Large Capacity Compact Type Hot Air Heater (6 Segment Type)
1 kW to 30 kW or more

The 6-segment type is a large-capacity air heater that is suitable for short length requirements.

The basic structure consists of 6 air heaters arranged in parallel inside a metal case. This structure can accommodate a 10 KW air heater in a length of 300 mm. Yet, the outer diameter ∅2.36 in (60 mm).

Though the cost is slightly high, it is a compact heater that enables the size of the machinery and equipment to be reduced, and total cost can be significantly reduced in many cases. This type of heater is commonly used for requirements of 3 kW or more.

Large-capacity heaters can be easily manufactured, and air-heaters of capacity exceeding 50 kW can also be manufactured. One of its features is that it is light weight and even a 30 kW type can be carried by one hand. In the following photograph, 10 kW unit weighs approximately 1.3 kg, 6 kW unit weighs approximately 0.8 kg and 3 kW unit weighs approximately 0.55 kg (including wire of length 1 m).

Various power supply specifications can be supported with the 6 heaters connected in parallel. (Three-phase and single phase power supply of various voltages can be supported by only changing the external connection).

The left photograph shows a standard product of the large output series.

The structure is simple consisting of a metal case with screws at both ends of a stainless steel pipe.

Depending on the application, parts have to be manufactured to connect this heater to piping.

TIG welding can be used for the screws used for the outlet of hot air.

The output of the unit in the photograph of the left side is not very high, and is manufactured due to the demand for compact units. The drawings and characteristic diagrams are given later, and another feature is that the required air supply pressure is relatively low.

For example, a typical unit SAH200v-6kw/15PH has 6 200v-1kw heaters inside which are internally connected in pairs of twos, and 6 leads wires are drawn out. This is equivalent to the presence of 3 independent heaters inside, and it can support 200 V single-phase or three-phase depending on the connection method (parallel connection or delta connection), and 346 V three-phase with star connection.

For larger models (12 kW or more), all 6 heaters are pulled out independently (12 lead wires). Therefore, it can support various power supply specifications. (Connection diagram will be described later)

One of the significant advantages is that the necessary supply air pressure is relatively low. Even if compressor or a rotary blower is not used as the air source, low cost Electromagnetic blowers are used in most cases.

Heaters of this class (around 1 kW) have 6 heater elements inside, it is possible to draw 2 lines (single-phase) or 3 lines (three-phase) to the outside by connecting internally.

Metal fittings are manufactured for connecting to external air piping. Since the pipe internal diameter has M48-P1.0 threads, it can be screwed in. Since the temperature at the air inlet is low, silicon based adhesive can be applied to the threads.

The hot air outlet is coated with inorganic adhesive (such as Aron ceramic D) and then screwed in, leakage is almost stopped but not completely. If leakage has to be stopped completely, it has welded after screwing in. TIG welding can be used for the hot air outlet of the assembled heater.
